A Time For Prayer, Reflection...

Greetings friends,

As I am sure most (if not all of you) have heard, Dr. Fred Winters of First Baptist Church in Maryville, IL was brutally murdered shortly after the first morning service began yesterday. Two church members apprehended the suspect and were also injured in the attack.

The people of First Baptist Church – Maryville need our prayers. They lost their leader. His family lost a husband, a father, a brother, a son, an uncle, a friend. Losing someone you love and admire isn’t easy – we’ve all been there or know someone who has. It can take a lot time…and prayer. I would ask, as the people of FBC-Maryville would, for your continued prayers for healing, understanding, and faith.

This horrible tragedy gives us the opportunity to reflect back. Life is a short ride. There are no guarantees...except for one. God gives us a guarantee. It clearly tells us in the Bible that we have all sinned (Romans 3:23) but have been offered a free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:8, 6:23, 10:9-10; John 3:16, 14:6). The biggest question is what do you do with that gift? Do you accept it? I did – on May 14, 1994. To accept God’s gift of eternal life, you must ask Jesus into your heart, ask for His forgiveness for your sins, and live your life for Him.

If you have any questions about what it takes to be a Christian, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Our God is an awesome and merciful God, He will protect you when you’re scared, comfort you when you’re hurting, and strong when you’re weak. He will always be there for you.

In His Grace,
Jeremy
